AETN RECEIVES GRANT FOR AN ARKANSAS HISTORY OF NATIVE PEOPLES PROJECT

AETN is one of only five public television stations to receive a grant from the AMERICAN EXPERIENCE series to help promote the “We Shall Remain: A Native History of America” five-part series premiering in 2009,  AETN will provide an online professional development course through the IDEAS educational portal, as well as other educational resources for classroom use.

The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock will present “Booker T. Washington: Have Lectern, Will Travel,” a living history presentation featuring a costumed portrayal of Booker T. Washington by scholar James H. Armstead. This special Black History Month presentation will feature a performance for schools on Monday, Feb. 19, and a performance for the general public on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

STRIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR MATH SCIENCE AND COMPUTER TEACHERS

The Arkansas STRIVE program is recruiting math, science, and computer teachers for its 2007 summer professional development program.  STRIVE is a statewide program that places teachers in research positions or on projects with industry, government agencies, research laboratories, universities and nonprofit organizations. 

The project allows teachers to experience how their disciplines are used by organizations and to learn how these organizations conduct research, solve problems or develop new products.  Workshops on inquiry-based teaching and on computer data analysis are also provided.
